You can definitely focus on the keywords or connecting words in the question and try focussing on the words being spoken during the listening test. This will enhance the probability of you spotting the right answer against the noted keywords.

Hi Varun,
Listening is a highly complex section, but your practice and proper usage of strategies can help you achieve your required band score.
All four sections consist of various types of questions that require to be answered using different techniques.
Now, coming to the last section, which is usually a form. It is used to be a Lecture on some topic with a single speaker, so it's straightforward to attempt these questions because we have to concentrate on one voice only. Next is to mark the keywords ( nouns, adjectives ) in the question paper that will help you while listening is played. You should practice YouTube videos with speed management, too, in settings.
Thanks,
I hope it will help you.

Hello Varun,
Your issue is understandable since the IELTS reading section structure is designed to get more challenging as you proceed through each passage.
It is advisable to practice skimming through the text to find out what is most relatable to the questions. For this, you must learn to read in groups or phrases. If you try to read each line word-by-word, it'll be hard for you to decipher the paragraph's overall meaning, given that you have limited time and the given text is quite dense.
I hope this helps.

Hi Varun,

  1. Remember, the Last Part of the Listening section is always difficult for everyone, even native people.
  2. Section 4, mainly (in some case, section 3), involves a lecture or a talk on academic research. To understand such monologues, one needs to get the speaker's opinion, mood, ideology, or inclination towards which side; sometimes, the speaker's tone becomes essential to understand the message.
  3. This section does not ideally have a direct answer from the tape you are listening to. It requires analyzing everything mentioned in the above points, use your intelligence and DERIVE the solution. Yes, you have to derive the answer as it will not be in tape directly.
  4. In that case, you can only locate the answer from tape if you have understood the general and specific detail of the conversation or tape. In addition, you must also identify what exactly the questions are asking and ofcourse, you can utilize the given time (few seconds) before the tape starts.
  5. Rarely humans can utilize their two skills at a time with equal concentration. So when you are listening - infact listening more cautiously to get all specific aspects, your eyes are also busy reading the question - Listening & Reading makes tasks more challenging. It means the performance in section 4 is directly proportional to the utilization of time that has been given to read questions in advance. Get the gist of at least half of the questions in advance. You can underline keywords for quick reference, which you need into consideration when the tape starts.
  6. So that when the tape starts now, your brain already knows what exactly you need to listen for, your ears are extra cautious for any twist and turn, and your brain will make you alert when your answer is supposed to come while listening. Sometimes answer passes spontaneously - make a triangle in your brain comprised of Tape Understanding - Question's Demand - Your Intuition or Intelligence. And this has to be within a fraction of seconds.
  7. Try to spot when the speaker moves from one point to another - catch linking words - can help you move on with the pace.
  8. Practice exercises that require to use of two skills at a time. This can be anything from your daily life too. You might be doing a few as well. Suppose you are replying to someone thru SMS while looking at your professor in the classroom. Or you are attending urgent call when you are watching the climax scene of any movie. If you are doing so well there, you can do well in listening section 4 too.
  9. Your brain needs to program in that way to carry on two things at a time - Practice and Analysis can do it eventually. Besides, start following your intuitions rather than looking for confirmation every time.

All the Best!

The information is in the short notes form, but you will hear a more detailed explanation in the audio. So, be careful to identify the audio's relevant information as per the keywords in the question and the blank's expected answer.
When you are reading the questions, circle the keywords. The key words refer to the essential information in the question. Some keywords are easy to identify, such as an academic term or a name; others are subtle. You need to listen carefully to the keywords in the recording.
Speaker in the audio would also be talking continuously in the order of the question. So, it would be best if you concentrated a lot to avoid skipping the audio. Do not look at your previous attempts to check if you have solved the question correctly or missed any question before. Please pay close attention to the words that are closer to the blanks, especially prepositions such as to, for, into, of etc., because your answer in the audio would be exactly around them, in most cases.
Most important, practice a lot Varun.
Good luck!
