A Java Web development framework, with MVC, a stateless architecture, very simple and powerful. It relies on JPA (backed with Hibernate 3.6) so the ORM part is standard. For large amount of data, JPA might no be the good choice for some part of your domain application. Sometime, Spring JDBC is more efficient. For instance, in a financial application if you need to load an update a large amount of securities, I would not use JPA to do such operation. I would either look at Database procedure or Spring JDBC with a SQL batch. read less
